Ganesh Chaturthi in Mumbai – Grand Ganesha Festival

December 17, 2024

Ganesh Chaturthi in Mumbai is a lively festival of prayer, music, community pandals and shared food. The celebration honours Lord Ganesha and fills neighbourhoods with decorated idols, cultural programmes and processions.

When the festival takes place

Ganesh Chaturthi begins on the fourth day of the Hindu month of Bhadrapada, usually in August or September. Homes and public pandals welcome an idol for a chosen number of days before visarjan, the immersion ceremony.
