The first donor was the then 14th President of India, Ramnath Kovind, who donated ₹500,000 on January 14, 2021. More than 127 million donations were made amounting to about ₹50 billion. Many Indian news companies have referred to the building of the Ram Mandir as being among the world’s most funded crowdsourced endeavors. Collecting by the Mandir Trust closed on February 27, 2021.
